Under the instruction of the greatest Thai Boxing Grandmasters, Master Woody, Master Toddy, Master A, Master Sken - and their students, our instructors have learned Muay Thai the traditional way over 30 years from the very best, and continue to pass on their knowledge in a safe, simple and happy environment where you are pushed to develop your skills as students of Thai Boxing and general self-defence.

Our club has recently teamed up with Champion of Champions, The Emperor Namsaknoi Yudthagarngamtorn in Thailand. All of our senior instructors spent several months training in Thailand under the tutelage of the Muay Thai’s greatest fighter, further honing their skills to teach traditional Muay Thai to the local community in Rochdale whilst maintaining close ties to heart of this amazing martial art.

THAI BOXING CLASS TIMETABLE

Thai Boxing Club currently runs a variety of martial arts classes every day. We specialise in Thai Boxing, but also offer Karate, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Boxing for people aged 6 and upwards. As an established community gym, we have developed a number of programs over the years and take great pride in helping kids with self-defence, anti-bullying, low confidence and self-esteem issues to develop into positive and productive citizens. We have also found that the teenagers that attend our classes have a distinct improvement in focus, especially when it comes to exams.

We like to keep things simple at Rochdale Thai Boxing Club, our membership fee is very low and people all ages and abilities are welcome. Our fees are simply a means to cover the basic maintenance requirements of the club as our focus is promoting fitness over everything else, and helping the local Rochdale community.

Supported by the Big Lottery, we welcome any donations and rely on the generosity of members and the local community to make sure we have good equipment available to use, generosity that has helped us continue for over 30 years!

What is Thai Boxing

In the true sense, Thai Boxing is a martial art developed in Thailand over 2000 years known as the ‘Art of 8 Limbs’ because the use of both hands, elbows, knees and legs. Thai Boxing has a reputation for being one of the oldest and more aggressive of martial arts as it was developed out of ancient warfare and utilises every limb available to deliver and defend against powerful attacks.
Modern day martial arts systems like MMA and Kick Boxing draw heavily from Thai Boxing, particularly the striking aspects of Muay Thai. Techniques that are synonymous with Thai Boxing are the low kick, elbow strikes and the extensive use of knee strikes.
Learning Thai Boxing instils discipline and confidence in members, helping them to deal with bullies in a non-violent manner, improve focus and get some much needed exercise. Regular members continue to develop their skill, fitness and self-defence abilities, and if they so wish, enter interclub and professional bouts as some of our members and instructors have and continue to do.
